Review: POCO F8 Pro — Flagship Power Without the Flagship Price Tag

The POCO F8 Pro is the kind of phone that makes you stop and ask: do I really need to spend $1,000 on a smartphone?

Launched in late 2025, it pairs a Snapdragon 8 Elite chip — the same silicon found in Android’s most expensive flagships — with a massive 6,210 mAh battery, dual 50 MP cameras, and audio tuned by Bose. All in a sleek, IP69-rated body that starts at $579.

It’s an ambitious value proposition. And for the most part, POCO delivers on it.

Here’s what we’ll cover:

  • POCO F8 Pro full specs
  • What we love — and what we don’t
  • How it stacks up against the competition

What We Like

  • The Snapdragon 8 Elite chip is an absolute powerhouse — gaming, multitasking, AI workloads, it handles everything without breaking a sweat
  • That 6,210 mAh battery is one of the largest you’ll find in a phone this size — and 100W charging means you’re back to full in well under an hour
  • IP69 water and dust resistance at this price point is genuinely rare — and a huge practical advantage
  • Dual symmetrical stereo speakers tuned by Bose make media consumption a legitimate pleasure
  • The 50 MP periscope telephoto with 2.5x optical zoom adds real versatility to the camera setup
  • Slim 8mm profile and a clean, premium build that punches well above its price class

What Could Be Better

  • Display resolution drops to FHD+ — at this price, a 2K panel would have been a welcome upgrade
  • The ultra-wide camera at 8 MP is noticeably behind the main and telephoto lenses — a weak link in an otherwise solid setup
  • HyperOS 3 ships with more pre-installed apps than most users will ever want
  • No microSD slot — you’re locked into what you buy at launch
  • Long-term software update commitment isn’t as strong as what Samsung or Google offer

Should You Buy the POCO F8 Pro?

If you’re after flagship-level performance without paying a flagship price, the POCO F8 Pro is one of the most compelling arguments in the market right now.

The Snapdragon 8 Elite chip, enormous battery, 100W charging, IP69 rating, and Bose-tuned audio form a package that simply doesn’t exist at this price anywhere else. The camera system is strong — though the ultra-wide lens is a noticeable step down from the main and telephoto.

The trade-offs are real: FHD+ resolution, no expandable storage, and a software update track record that can’t match Samsung’s commitment. But if raw performance and day-long battery life top your priority list, this phone is genuinely hard to beat under $600.
